How Do You Feel?

I have been picking up what’s left of this year and trying to make it end on a positive note. You can start in a negative space but you always have to end with something positive. I’ve been trying to keep to myself but I know that isn’t healthy at all. For the first 5-6 months of the year I struggled with getting outside the house. I’d personally rather stay in and not go out. It’s not that I was depressed it was more so I didn’t want to deal with people. People pushing views on how I should be living, what I should be doing and how I should be feeling. No matter what is happening people always seem to inject their views on you and not just let you live for you.

How do you feel? This is a real question that I was asked. Not are you okay? It was a genuine how do you feel?  I feel that life is getting better and that I am getting better. When I was asked this it was like a total shock. I didn’t really know how to answer it, it’s different then asking someone, “Hey are you okay?” I am not okay, why do you think I am okay? That made me reconsider connecting with the people around me and getting better. Sometimes people don’t know what to say but sometimes one person can fix the door to allow others back in.

Now I find myself trying to enjoy life once again and just heal. Reconnecting with old friends, establishing new friendships, getting new hobbies and just smiling as much as possible. People see me going out but it really is for me to enjoy life for Kevin and no one else. We tend to forget that we are the drivers in our journey through life and that others are the passengers along for the ride. The moment they become backseat drivers to steer you in the wrong direction, you have to kick them out the car. If they can’t give you the necessary tools so you can keep driving your own life then they shouldn’t be along for the ride.

Good Morning! (Part 2)

Good Morning to those who never receive a good morning. I think everyone in some way or form should receive words of encouragement and inspiration for the week. As I always say “you never know what someone is going through” so for you to just say, “I hope you have a great day” makes people feel good. For as long as some people have known me I’ve always sent positive words to people around me. I like being a positive person no matter what is going on around me. Every day is a struggle but I have to keep moving forward or I would be stuck in my misery.

Every Monday I send out a positive message to people I know for the week. I am always asked, “Hey can you add my friend to your Monday morning messages.” I don’t mind as I feel that everyone should get a positive message for the week. During the week you may have many ups and downs but it’s always how you start your week that will determine how your week will end. If you can start your week with positive energy and vibes, then no matter what you are going through you can definitely get passed it. We all experience moments of despair but the weekly reset needs to happen so you can get back on track. Everything takes time but it will happen.

Each week is a time for you to reflect and become better then the person you saw in the mirror last week. The “good morning” text sometimes is all the push you need to keep moving forward and not be stuck in a bad place. Start your week with happiness, love in your heart and energy to achieve your goals.

“Don’t start your day with the broken pieces of yesterday.”

#365DaysOfHappiness

Dear Happiness,

Thank you for the people in my life and the ability to see a new day. I never show enough appreciation for the people in my life but I try. I am happy because I am not the same person I was yesterday. Thank You.

Always Happy,
Kevin Pierre

So my non-profit (@levofoundation) has a social media campaign that we have been sharing with people called 365 Days of Happiness. The purpose is to help uplift people and give them a reason to be happy. I always say that you define your own happiness but with everything that is going on in the world, it makes you more depressed then happy. So our goal is to share that happiness that you have with other people.

Think about all the good that is happening in your life compared to the bad and just be thankful that it it isn't all bad. Even the little things should make you happy and move you forward. We tend to forget that every day is a new day to find something new to be happy about. If we allow sadness and depression to rule our lives, how will we ever accomplish anything? Sometimes we have to be able to share our own happiness with others so they can stay positive and keep pushing forward.

Wake up knowing that today is another day to be great, share your happiness, love as deeply as possible and be thankful for all the wonderful people in your life. Life is so unexpected its better to live it with a smile.

"We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have"

The Weekly Reset

So we all have our bad weeks or our bad months and just sometimes need a reset. Not in the sense that your deleting that experience from your life, more so you are starting the week in a positive way. Last week was really bad for me, whatever you want to call really bad. My friend was diagnosed with cancer, other friends mom died, had an allergic reaction, lost a lot of friends, social life is in the shitter and had to purchase a new phone at full retail. All those things may not seem bad but I won't go into detail about it. I am just letting you know that this stuff happened to me last week and this is a new week. New week brings new energy and positive vibes.

When Monday hits I like to send a mass text message to a couple of people with positive energy. We all should start our week knowing that this week will be different the the previous one. If you can't refresh yourself on a Monday and start a new then whats the point? I enjoy life with the greatest people and I try to smile at everything. It's all about smiling and being great. Yes not everything is going the way you want it to but life is always going to get better. I never regret any decision I make during the previous week I just learn from every situation and try to do better.

What I am saying is to continue creating your memories and keep being positive. Every week is a new week to be better and do great things. You never want to regret the things you did the previous week. I had a bad week but I have moved on (weekly reset). New week, new me and positive vibes. To busy loving the person I'm becoming and loving the people that are around me. Laugh at everything and just enjoy life.

#SummerBoo

As the summer draws to a close lets start to thank our summer boo’s for the roles they have played in making sure we had an enjoyable summer. Lets be real, if you are single you had a “Summer Boo”. Someone that you could take places with you, if you didn’t want to go alone. You didn’t consider them a summer boo, you probably just considered them a real good friend. Some people got out relationships right before the summer just so they could have fun for the summer. People don’t get that they are just the summer boo, the temporary fling that people want for the summer. The summer is when people have the most time to do anything and are free, so why not have a summer boo right?

I classify the summer boo as just a temporary person that is around for the summer that you don’t really see yourself with. Sometimes you can under certain circumstances but that is very slim. You already know who you want before you have a summer boo but you get one just because everyone is doing there own thing for the summer. Yes a summer boo can turn into a potential but during the summer people don’t want to be tied down. Why be tied down when you can just have fun? As humans we don’t like doing things alone and when we see couples we are just like “I wish I could have someone to do things with to.” It doesn’t have to be anything physical more so like adventures. Lets go on vacation together or try something new that we have never tried. Don’t forget people catch feelings sometimes. You have to be clear with people so they don’t hurt. Sometimes we don’t care about people’s feelings but you can’t damage friendships for a summer of fun.

As long as you keep a boundary and make it clear what is going on, you won’t lose people. If you don’t someone always gets hurt. As the summer ends don’t forget to come back to reality and remember that it is only for a season. A seasonal lover is never good to have but just someone to experience a good time with isn’t that bad. As long as you are happy that’s all that matters.

Good Morning!

Hey sorry for the delay in a new topic, just focused on other things but I'm back on it.

Lost in my thoughts, I always find my self sending random texts of inspiration to people. Either thanking them for being in my life, just giving them something great to wake up to or just something to get them through the day. You really never know what someone is going through so its better to just send them something to brighten their day. A good morning phone call or text goes a long way for some people who are never use to them. It's always great to know someone is thinking about you when they wake up.

A good morning text is me putting a lot of effort into something I really don't have to send you but I choose to be that one light at the end of the tunnel for someone. When you get that text and your like "why the fuck is this person waking me up" first say to yourself "dam someone really cares enough about me this early in the morning to send me a message." Not everyone deserves a good morning message but the ones that get it you just have to cherish the little things.

I would have to say I am a cornball and when one of my friends sends me a morning text, something inspirational or thanking me for one I cheese really hard at my phone. You have to learn to appreciate the little things, so when the big things happen you will cherish them.

"A morning text doesn't only mean "good morning." It also means "I think about you when I wake up"”

The Smile

What is the first thing you notice whenever you approach someone? Me personally I will notice there smile. Not everyone has a genuine smile and from that you can learn a lot about someone. I would have to say I am the BIGGEST sucker for a pretty girl with a gorgeous smile. Why? Just because I feel that is the most beautiful feature you can have besides your eyes. Your smile defines what kind of person you are. A smile tells a million stories and the one it wants to tell you can vary on the type of person smiling at you.

Smiles have their own little story depending on the person. They say that “No smile is as beautiful as the one that struggles through the tears.” As humans we tend to go through a lot of issues and if we are able to come out of those situations happy and with a smile, then we have overcome extreme hardship. To be able to put on a smile after something depressing or heartbreaking shows the strength behind your smile. That’s why each smile has its own story to tell.

If you are like me sometimes we just smile at the little things just because. I will walk somewhere and think of something just randomly stupid and start smiling. How about that text you get from that special someone and you start smiling at your phone? People then assume you’re crazy because you’re smiling at your phone. You see your crush and you give them the koolaid smile and then try to play it off like you weren’t looking. We all have our moments, and our smiles tell our stories.

“Always remember to be happy because you never know who's falling in love with your smile.”

Are You Happy?

Sometimes we find ourselves at particular crossroads in our lives where we feel as though nothing is going right. Sometimes we converse with friends or family members to help us through these situations. Sometimes we allow others to break us down so we are never happy again, when we are suppose to define our own happiness. Is it human nature to allow others to break us or make us feel discouraged? Do we allow ourselves to be unhappy and take it out on the people around us?

I know a couple people that have let other people define their happiness. Like if they aren’t talking to someone, have a boyfriend/girlfriend or have someone that is always around to support them they feel as though there not happy at all. It’s like they need that cushion there just to know “Hey I will be alright, I have John here for me.” When in reality, you shouldn’t be allowing people to control how happy you are or happy you should be. I understand we do get happier when we have some people around but this shouldn’t have a general affect on how you feel and what you do in life. In most cases people who realize that they are letting others define their own happiness will push the people who care for them the most away. They push them away so they can work on being happy by themselves, but is that a good thing? People who constantly make time for you, that make you happy and are constantly there for you shouldn’t really be pushed away but in most cases they are. Sometimes they get the message and literally just fall all the way back from you never returning, and things never being the same again.

Point of the story is you define your own happiness, waiting for people to make you happy or rule how you feel shouldn’t be allowed.
